Today was the final day of the battle of Gettysburg and hopefully the end of the war. The day was quite until the late afternoon, then all off a sudden the roar of Yankee cannon fire opened up on us. They opened up on us while Longstreet's corp were sitting in the woods.They were pretty much sitting ducks at the edge of the woods. The artillery did not return fire for minutes. When they did fire the Yankee fired right back at us. Now we are back into another big battle. They just took out one of our cannons. Longstreet's corp is waiting to charge the front line of the union army. Before Longstreet charges they must wait for the union cannon fire to ease up. Then finally they walk out of the woods. Then they stop and fix there bayonets. Then the rebel yell echoed all through the field. Then they started the charge. As we walked passed our artillery they were waving there hats in the air. As soon as they stopped waving there hats they blue belly's opened fire on us. They were dropping our men left and right. Cannon balls hitting the ground axploding and killing men. We got closer to the frontline of the union and now bullets were wizzing past.
